Momentum is building toward Saturday, October 27th — from Orlando to Seattle, from New York to New Orleans. On that day, people from all walks of life will gather in 11 cities around the country in a national expression of the breadth and depth of antiwar sentiment in this nation. For many people, it will be their first step in transforming their antiwar feelings into antiwar action. Regional actions will enable much larger numbers of people to participate.
People everywhere want the war to end, but Washington has failed to take decisive action. With each passing month, the Iraq disaster claims the lives of nearly 100 service people and countless Iraqis as it drains 12 billion of our tax-dollars. Our communities are neglected and suffer the consequences.
On October 27th, the people will speak: We want this war to end, and we want it to end now! Click to find out about each regional demonstration, or learn more about national organizing.
Tom 4 Prez will be there, come join join us!

Honor the American Dream
Last week Trickydame went to the NY International Gift Fair and met some business owners who were following their “American Dreams”. Each one of them took an idea and took action to make it happen – and now they are selling their merchandise in New York City! By taking the responsibility and following thru with their passions – each one of these people are committed to being a part of the change that is happening. There were many companies promoting organic, eco-friendly, sustainable, handmade, and positive energy! It was truly inspiring ! Trickydame talked with them about Tom 4 Prez and the Top 5 Priorities and was happy to meet so many free thinkers!
Here are a few of the companies that are truly Tom 4 Prez’ Friends!

RescueGirl (res’kyoo’gûrl), n., 1. A woman who is young in spirit and generous of heart, who doesn’t need someone to rescue her because she knows how to rescue herself. 2. A RescueGirl doesn’t need anyone to validate her existence because, regardless of her shape, size, hue, shoes or status, she knows she’s fabulous!
The original RescueGirl, Amy Luwis, launched her company in 2004 to inspirit and applaud women. RescueGirl focuses its energy on creating useful, positive products and works with companies that care about making this world a better place. Her award winning gift line is sold online, and through upscale stores including Whole Foods Market.
Joan Maloney and her daughter Hollis, shown left to right, are the founders of +E (positive energy), LLC. Joan, an award-winning graphic designer from San Diego, California has had her own design business, Studio 318, since 1997. Hollis, a high school senior, is a self-taught graphic and clothes designer.
Communicating messages that are relevant and that resonate.
Joan and Hollis felt that they had been blessed with the gift of being able to communicate. So why not communicate messages that help all of us through this life? Together they brainstormed ways to get messages regarding social and environmental causes that they were passionate about, into the mainstream consciousness.

Jendala, Art for the Soul, Created by artisan Jennifer Utsch, Jendala resulted from the strong belief that there is a connection between creativity, the environment and universal growth. Jendala is best explained as being “Jenn’s wheel” of existence, forever changing and reinventing.
This philosophy is enacted on many levels of Jendala’s vision and interaction with art, earth, and society. In our work, materials used are salvaged from landfills with efforts from numerous individuals helping to recycle. The manufacture and sale of recycled products crafted from waste materials is a great way to encourage recycling and lengthen landfill life span. Thereby, the (re)use of recovered materials helps to offset the current devastation of the environmental infrastructure, a linear path of use to refuse (the current use and toss mentality) instead of a recyclable practice of use and reuse. Jendala wants to encourage a sustainable way of living for ourselves and our environment from what we already have—what we believe is a healthier way of being. The artwork’s utility reminds us that the connection between our environment and quality of life is not always obvious and that opportunities for creativity abound. Additionally, Jendala has begun workshops in Mexico to train women with the torch to enable self-sustainability. This interaction with Jendala and its artisans helps to (re)create connections of strength, community, and creativity between art, work, and each other.

db clay – Based in NE Portland, we create unique wallets called pocket art. Our newest collection of designer wallets (pictured above) is titled Version 3. We have developed a process for transferring conceptual artwork and timeless photographs onto our custom textile (eco friendly Tope) prior to stitching the freshly printed fabric into a strong and beautiful billfold. Each piece tells a story, intends to spark human interaction and encourage meaningful conversation.
Stiles in Clay was established in 1998 to fulfill a need to design and make work from materials under the title of craft (ceramic, glass, wood, fiber, etc.) Since the establishment of Chris Stiles’ company, many pieces have found a home in private collections, galleries, craft stores, museum shops and other stores across the country and beyond.

THE REASON I AM BLOGGING TODAY IS BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK IN WASHINGTON DC – BULLSHIT!! this is what needs to be talked about the water cooler on Monday!
The government has said it is sanctioning ANSWER for putting up political posters calling for the September 15 March on Washington to end the war in Iraq. By mounting a political and legal challenge, we can succeed in defending our First Amendment rights and overcome all the obstacles that are being used to try to disrupt the organizing for the September 15 Mass March on Washington, which will be led by Iraq war veterans and their families.
To read the Washington Post article, see below.
The ANSWER Coalition will not pay one penny to the government for our First Amendment rights or to stave off their threats against us. We are working with the expert constitutional rights attorneys at the Partnership for Civil Justice to determine our next steps for legal action against this government harassment and attempted repression. With the help of thousands of individuals and other organizations around the country who value free speech rights, we are continuing and intensifying the political struggle. We need every one who has not written or called the government to do so, and if you have done so already please get a friend to do so as well.
LET’S SHOW THE GOVERNMENT – THE WORLD – THE CORPORATE LEADERS JUST HOW STRONG THE PEOPLE OF THE USA CAN BE – We can’t let us ourselves be bought and sold !

Tom 4 Prez supports LIVE EARTH
We must keep up the momentum from the Live Earth Concerts this past weekend. Two billion people tuned in and participated in these concerts on 7 continents, demonstrating a massive commitment to halting climate change while we still can.
You can sign too by clicking: http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/feministmajority/petition.jsp?petition_KEY=667&t=ms.dwt
Live Earth
Make a commitment to stop climate change through personal action and political advocacy.
I PLEDGE:
1. To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;
2. To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become “carbon neutral;”
3. To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2;
4. To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation;
5. To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal;
6. To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and,
7. To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.

Hour Children
Recently, Trickydame was introduced to HOUR CHILDREN.
Hour Children is committed to the loving care of incarcerated mothers, ex-offenders, and their children, providing short- and long-term support services.
Hour Children was established in 1995 by Sr. Teresa Fitzgerald to support incarcerated mothers when in prison and when released, while providing a stable and nurturing environment for their children. Originally a residential program for children made homeless by their mother’s incarceration, Hour Children has grown into a multifaceted family service provider. Sr. “Tesa,” as she is known, began with a focus on prisoners’ children, many of whom were placed in foster care or the care of relatives, with little or no contact with their mothers. Sr. Tesa led the initiative to re-deploy the 10 empty bedrooms in the Convent of St. Rita’s in Long Island City as a home for these children. She and four other Sisters qualified as foster parents, and eight children moved into the convent. The Sisters helped to establish parent support programs at the Bedford Hills and Taconic Correctional Institutions and arranged for regular visits so that mother and child were able to reunite for a few hours.
Today, Hour Children is a community of five residences, housing 45 families, with children from infancy to 21 years. More than 200 housing alumnae who have successfully transitioned to independent living return for special events and attend monthly support groups.
In addition, Hour Children became an established work release site, and opened a Community Outreach Center and a thrift shop with three locations. Another eight apartment units will be available upon the completion of a new residence under construction.
TOM 4 PREZ is proud to share their story – this is a way to Promote National Wellness.

Trickydame got this email from “Justin Krebs, Drinking Liberally New York”
“He has obstructed the Administration of Justice”
accused the Declaration of Independence
of a tyrant named George who was above the law
…231 years before Bush let Scooter scoot.
“He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws
of immediate and pressing importance,”
claimed our Founding Fathers about the King
…before W obstructed laws on fuel efficiency,
prescription drug pricing & stem cell research.
“He has dissolved Representative Houses…”
“He has affected to render the Military
independent of and superior to the Civil Power…”
and “for depriving us in many cases,
of the benefit of Trial by Jury,” Jefferson penned,
it was time for an American Revolution.
In a time when Bush ignores subpoenas,
creates extra-legal prisons, uses torture,
& re-defines the rule of law as he sees fit
…where’s Thomas Jefferson when we need him?
Oh…he’s right there…in the Declaration…
if only we remember to read it.
Tom 4 Prez is glad to see that someone is reading the Declaration of Independence and SHARING it with others! This is what has to happen – we need to start sharing the DIFFERENT TRUTH that is being hidden away from the citizens of the USA. Tom 4 Prez recognizes different truths HOWEVER all truths need equal presentation. It is a sad time in USA history right now – we have an opportunity to rally together and be seen and heard. Tom 4 Prez listens and sees – will the next President?
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO MEET LIKE MINDED FOLKS – if you don’t live in NYC – find your local chapter!! (google it!)
